Amputee Football Junior Camps 2026/2027 supported by UEFA Foundation
Amputee Football Junior Camps 2026/2027 – Mexico & Rwanda
The World Amputee Football Federation (WAFF), in partnership with the European Amputee Football Association (EAFF), is proud to launch a series of Amputee Football Junior Camps, with events planned in Mexico and Rwanda. Both camps are made possible through the generous support of the UEFA Foundation, and we are deeply grateful for their commitment to inclusive sport and the well-being of children with disabilities worldwide.
This initiative creates inclusive, empowering opportunities for children with disabilities — particularly young amputees — from disadvantaged communities across Africa and Latin America. Using the transformative power of football, the camps aim to improve participants’ physical, social, and emotional well-being through a proven framework developed and refined by EAFF across Europe since 2016, adapted to reflect local cultural and socioeconomic realities.
The Mexico Camp will take place in San Juan de los Lagos at the PROAN Sport Center — date to be confirmed. It will welcome approximately 70 children and young people aged 8–19 from Mexico, Guatemala, El Salvador, Costa Rica, and Nicaragua, alongside parents, coaches, educators, and volunteers — around 130 participants in total. The six-day residential program covers football training grouped by age and position, workshops for parents, knowledge-exchange sessions for coaches, and cultural activities.
The Rwanda Camp, also funded by the UEFA Foundation, will follow in 2027, bringing the same empowering Junior Camp experience to young amputees in Africa
Key goals of the project include:
Expanding access to inclusive sport for children in marginalized communities
Using football as a tool for confidence-building and “life recovery” after trauma or exclusion
Developing social skills, teamwork, and cross-cultural understanding
Training local coaches to ensure lasting, sustainable impact
Promoting gender inclusion and challenging disability-related stigma
Following each camp, participating countries are expected to organize their own national Junior Camp editions, with ongoing mentoring and support from the Core Working Group.
