Ghana’s national amputee football team have been crowned champions of the 2024 African Amputee Football Cup of Nations (AAFCON)

Ghana’s national amputee football team, the Black Challenge, emerged as champions of the 2024 African Amputee Football Cup of Nations (AAFCON) after a hard-fought 2-1 victory over Morocco in the final on May 27 in Cairo, Egypt. This triumph marks Ghana’s successful defense of their title, following their win in the previous edition held in Tanzania
In the third-place playoff, Algeria overcame Nigeria with a 3-1 win, earning them a spot on the podium. Alongside Ghana, Morocco, Algeria, and Nigeria, the teams from Angola, Liberia, and Egypt have also qualified for the upcoming WAFF World Cup 2026.
The 2024 AAFCON, held from May 18 to 27 in Cairo, saw 13 teams from across Africa compete at a high level. The tournament, organized by the Egyptian National Paralympic Committee under the leadership of Dr. Mohammed Hossni, included first-time participants Algeria, Burundi, and Gambia.
