Amputee Football means different things to each individual person. At its heart it can be a liberating sport for escapism, self-expression and freedom. With it comes friendship, camaraderie, and competitive opportunity. For the select few elite athletes it is the pinnacle of achievement and representation.
Amputee football can be played in whatever form the individuals chooses to participate in, with or without the use of a prosthetic limb within mainstream football, multi-disability football or within mixed amputee sessions. In its codified format WAFF recognizes the International 7v7 format on a 60×40 meter pitch, where outfield players participate on elbow crutches and goalkeepers are single-arm deficient.
